The Walk AC Outlets to Expand Again – Phase III!

The Phase 3 expansion of “The Walk” Atlantic City Outlets will cost $15 million and add 45,000 square feet of retail space and as many as 12 outlet stores. The new Phase III expansion will immediately create about 400 construction jobs and more than another 300 permanent jobs after new stores start opening, possibly as soon as the end of this summer.  A major part of the funding, $9-million, will come from a loan by CRDA / Casino Reinvestment Development Authority.

CRDA is also planning to build a $30 million parking garage at the corner of Fairmount and Mississippi avenues, adjacent to the third phase. The 1,200-space garage is expected to be completed in early 2011.

The location of the Phase III expansion is currently open space, and is bordered by Christopher Columbus Boulevard and Fairmount ave, Mississippi and Arctic avenues, near the foot of the Atlantic City Expressway. The project site near the foot of the Atlantic City Expressway will start very shortly in 2010.

The current Owners and Developers of “The Walk” Atlantic City Outlets is Baltimore’s Cordish Company. They are developers of several major retail projects in the US, including “The Walk” outlet center in Atlantic City, NJ. The Walk opened in 2003 and is the 8th largest retail outlet center in the United States by gross leasable square feet, retail shopping industry reports show.

Announcements relating to the Phase 4 Expansion of “The Walk” Atlantic City Outlets are trickling in and it looks as though Cordish will creat an “Atlantic City Live” Experience similar to other Cordish brands: Power Plant
Live! in Baltimore, Fourth Street Live! in Louisville, Ky., and KC Live! in Kansas City, Mo.. It will include more retail space, nightclubs, comedy clubs, a bowling alley, outdoor concert venue, new restrooms and an creative element of live entertainment among other things as unveiled by David S. Cordish, chairman of the Baltimore, MD based Cordish Co.
